Stylize Your Shutters with Craftsman Shutter Frames in New Brunswick

June 26, 2017

It doesn’t happen often, but we’ve heard a New Brunswick homeowner or two claim that “all shutters look the same.” Let’s set the record straight – that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Many people don’t realize just how many options there are when it comes to shopping for plantation shutters in New Brunswick, and the impact those options may have. Possibly chief among those options is the style of shutter frame you pick.

New Brunswick Custom Shutter Frames

The options available to you for shutter frames will depend on four things primarily:

  • How your window opens and closes.

  • The depth of the window sill.

  • Whether you’ll have an outside mount or inside mount.

  • Your own personal taste and design.

Some of our shutter frames are only available in certain materials, like our Polywood® faux wood shutters, some are only able to work on an inside or outside mount of a window, and some will be a better match for your existing trim, like our Craftsman frame shutters, perfect for Craftsman style homes and offered exclusively by Sunburst.

Here are some of the most common shutter frames we recommend to New Brunswick homeowners.

Craftsman frame  Outside mounted L frame  Z frame for shutters  Decorative casing frame

Craftsman Frame Shutters - You can’t turn on HGTV or read a design magazine for more than a few minutes without seeing Craftsman design. This Sunburst-exclusive frame was designed especially for Craftsman style homes and homes with similar aesthetics. A Craftsman frame offers a simple, clean look, so no part of your home looks gaudy compared to the rest. If getting back to your Craftsman roots is what you want, this is your shutter frame. Currently offered in Polywood and reclaimed wood shutters only.

L-Frame Shutters - An L-frame is possibly the simplest and most practical frame we offer. They have a tight, contemporary look, and tend to be the easiest to work around for specialty windows. The L-frame can work as either an inside or outside mount, if you’d like to keep your existing window trim, and is offered in all of our different shutter types.

Z-Frame Shutters - Z-frames are a widely-chosen style because they give you a chic, sophisticated look to your window, similar to crown or bass molding. This frame is called a “Z-frame” because of the shape of its exterior, which is mounted on the inside of the window jamb, but hugs the jamb and extends to the outside making a “Z” figure. That extended shape makes it so you don’t even need window trim around the window. Z-frames are available in every single one of our shutters.

Decorative Frame Shutters - A decorative frame is all about style. With extensive texturing and an attention-grabbing shape, this frame looks fantastic for windows that don’t have any trim, or if you want to cover your existing trim. Decorative frames are available in Polywood faux wood and Ovation hardwood shutters.
